Belmont Community Resource Services is participating in the 2021 Amazing Praise online fundraiser, a 48-hour online giving celebration of God and the transforming work being done in Jesus’ name across Richmond. It will run from 12:00 PM ET on Tuesday, September 21 through 12:00 PM ET on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

The Amazing Praise raises awareness and support for 19 local Christ-based nonprofits serving the greater Richmond area. It’s a great time to support Belmont Community Resource Services (Belmont UMC Food & Clothing Pantry) in our efforts to feed, clothe and provide spiritual support to our neighbors in the South Richmond and Chesterfield areas. It has been a blessing to get to know so many wonderful people. Our lives have been enriched through the relationships we have formed with those you come each Friday. We have also been blessed with many volunteers from many different churches and places in the Richmond and Chesterfield. There have been 629 instances of volunteering for 1879 hours so far in 2021.   4364 food pantry guests have been served so far in 2021.  The work continues rain or shine. Our volunteers bag all the groceries on Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. We distribute food every Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Our clothing closet is open on Fridays also. We have served an average of 320 families each Friday since March. To meet this demand, we’ve needed almost twice as many volunteers as before and are in need of help every week. There are positions for greeting clients, packing bags, sorting produce, sorting clothing donations, assisting clients, loading shopping baskets and cars, and moving boxes. We need help every Thursday from 10 to 1 (all positions are non-client contact) and Fridays from 8 to 1 (some positions are client contact, but many are not). We all wear masks and gloves and request that our clients wear masks (which we provide). Please come and give back to the community by helping us! In 2016, we established Belmont Community Resource Services, a nonprofit corporation. This nonprofit includes the feeding and clothing ministry, as well as our efforts to empower residents to strengthen their community according to their own dreams. Our food pantry serves all who come, over 1,100 residents every week. Our community development efforts are aimed at finding out the gifts and talents of residents in our community and helping them take a leadership role in changing their neighborhood for the better.
