Volunteer at

The Food Pantry and The Closet at Belmont

Volunteer shifts in The Food Pantry and The Closet at Belmont are available Monday through Friday mornings. High-priority packing takes place on Thursday and Friday mornings, with client distributions occurring on Friday mornings.  The button below will send you to our volunteer sign-up page. This page will show you the scheduling availability, as well as, further details on what volunteering looks like at Belmont.

What to Wear?

Most volunteer tasks will take place outside, so please wear weather-appropriate clothing. We also require all volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes for safety.

Where to Park?

While volunteers can park in the Belmont lot Monday-Thursday, we ask our Friday volunteers to please reserve our lot for neighbors and instead park in the Branches Baptist Church parking lot in front of the playground. This lot is accessed from Walmsley Blvd and signage will be visible from the street.

When you arrive, please make your way to the back of Belmont United Methodist Church where you can check in under the car port.

What do I do when I arrive?

We would love to give you a tour before giving you training and a position. Cold drinks are provided in the volunteer refrigerator, but you are welcome to bring your own water bottle.

Welcome to Belmont! We are so happy to have you!

DIY Family Meal Kits

With DIY Family Meal Kits, the neighbors we serve can make quick, easy, one-pot dinners using the recipes and ingredients that volunteers assemble in an all-in-one kit!

Tips & Guidelines to prepare your kit for donation:

  • Select a simple, one-pot recipe and purchase all ingredients.
  • Aim for about $10 or less per meal. All ingredients must be non-perishable, unopened, and at least two months out from the expiration date.
  • Please do not include any glass or breakable items in the kits.
  • Please include a recipe in both English and Spanish. (Google Translate is a great tool if you’re not bilingual!)
  • All items should be placed in a gallon-size Ziploc bag.

Drop off your kits Mondays-Thursdays at:
Belmont Community Resource Services
3510 Broad Rock Blvd. Richmond, VA 23234
